Introduction:

Devour is a co-op horror survival game that puts you and up to three friends against a demonic cult leader possessed by the goat demon Azazel. In order to rid yourself of the evil before it has a chance to consume you, you must destroy the ritual objects that feed the possession. Sounds simple, right? Well, not quite. The cult leader will grow more powerful, swift, and hostile as you advance, and hordes of minions will appear to pursue you. To survive this nightmare, you will need to cooperate, make good use of your flashlight, and locate the necessary objects.

Gameplay:

Devour features six different maps, each with its own theme, layout, and challenges. The best way to enjoy the game is with friends, preferably over voice chat, as coordination of actions and mutual warning of dangers depend heavily on communication. The game supports up to four players in online co-op mode. The game is challenging, fun, and scary, especially with friends. The main objective in Devour is to gather the ten ritual objects and ten items for cleansing the ritual objects. This objective does feel like a giant fetch quest at times, but for first time players, it does offer a big challenge and can actually be enjoyed.

Conclusion:

Those who enjoy cooperative horror games like Phasmophobia, Pacify, or Left 4 Dead will enjoy Devour. With friends in particular, the game is enjoyable, frightening, and challenging. With free updates and DLCs, the game is also incredibly cheap on Steam, only $5. Devour is a game that will make you run, scream, hide, and maybe even laugh. It’s a game that will test your nerves, your skills, and your friendship. I must say that the game can be very fun, but once you and your friends have completed all the maps, or even the first couple of maps, the game does start to feel a bit repetitive and no longer has the charm that it once had.

Score: 6/10

A funny clip from when I was playing with my friend, who is very easily scared and cannot play horror games at all.
